PCS year at SP so far - Reflections - by Tare Ujobolo

Some of our PCS students have stated the year great and would like to share with us:

MAHLE: My year is the bomb and I hope it continues this way

A Couple of Grade 7: It is a bit stressful but we are still going

CHALSEA: My Year is starting out really bad

CHLOE: My is starting out good and easy and I’m enjoying my new teachers

GRADE 11 BONTLE: I’m a part time student my in PCS is going good so far and I find it easier with my school grades  and I like being a part time student

TEGOHO: My year started out boring but I never thought we would such nice cultural activities

PANNA: The year started out AMAZINGLY but now it’s horrible…

ONEANG: It started out ok, but with a lot of work, but I guess that’s what schools for

ME: My year is going great and being in newspaper club is wonderful

As you can see some of our PCS students have started out great and not so great thank you for reading

Popcorn Party *Movie Review* by Tswelopele Molope

Welcome to POPCORN PARTY and in this article I will give you a short review of a movie, rate the movie and give you the link to the movie. We’ll start off with 2017 movies.

Today’s movie is:

THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE

This movie is really entertaining and funny. They make quite a few jokes. Batman is very lonely and that is all  I’m going to say.

My favorite movie is the Angry Birds movie. The movie is about a bird named Red that had anger issues. The only reason he had these anger issues is because he was born in a lost and found in the Island.

Suddenly some pigs showed up at a village in the Island, where the birds lived. They destroyed his house and moved on without any apologies, that’s when he lost his temper completely.  He yelled at the pigs but they ignored him. He knew he had to do something about this. The pigs stole all of the eggs that were about to hatch, they were going to eat them for lunch.

Red decided to go to the mighty eagle for help but when he got there, he realized it was a mistake to come to him because he retired years ago.

Red knew he had no other option but to save the eggs himself, so he called out the whole village to help.  They built a sling shot to make them fly into the pig’s castle. It worked really well and the mighty eagle later came to assist them.

Red got all the eggs back without being angry, so I guess the lesson here is that anger is not always the answer to any problem.

Dreams

When you are asleep
You dream of many things
Like pixies and dragonsWith big scary wings,
Maybe you’ll dream of fairy godmothers
Or you’re in a world of a million colours
Maybe you’ll dream of something non-fiction
Like you’re an under-cover spy
On a secret mission
But sometimes there are nightmares
That are weird or scary
Maybe somethings chasing you
like 10 Grizzly bears
But then you wake up
And it was just a dream
But when you see your teddy bear
You start to scream!

'Despicable Me' movie review - by Inomkitha Thomas

Despicable Me starts with a villain named Gru. He freezes people to get to the front of the coffee shop line, and he pops children's balloons.

Two things are different about Gru:
1 - His lair is not located on the moon or the desert, but in his very own basement in his suburban house. 
2 - He doesn't dream of dominating the world but dominating the news ratings as Greatest Villain of All Time.

The voice actor behind Gru's voice is Steve Carrel. He gives him an accent that sound something between a Russian Mafioso and a crazed Nazi .His character's life gets difficult because his mother gets on his case. Gru's most used weapon is the Freeze Gun, but with the help of his genius professor Dr Nefario he can employ a Shrink Ray.

MY FAVOURITE SPORT By Abdulmuiz Oke

Today I will be talking about my favorite sport.

Athletics is my favorite sport. The only reason I like it is because in my previous school  I won almost every race I ran, then I went to the university of Pretoria where I came third place in the  PEPSAA race of under 10 years for a final competition with other schools.

My favorite world champion is Usain Bolt and my favorite South African champion is Wayde Van Niekerk.

Bolt was born 21 August 1986.  He is the greatest sprinter of mankind, his speed limit was 44.72 km/h and he is known as the fastest human who has ever lived, his is 1.95 meters in height. He retired as an athlete in 2017.  The awards he won are as follows; the Laureus sportsman of the year, BBC Overseas personality of the year, best track and field athlete ESPY award , Best international athlete Milliyet.

Wayde Van Niekerk is 25 years old. He is the fastest person in South Africa, his height is 1.83 meters. Wayde van Niekerk has been named as one of the finalist for the IAAFS World male athlete of the year in 2017.

What’s my favourite dog you ask?

Well that’s the point of this task.

There’s an Alsatian

Which reminds me of a Dalmatian.

Well, there’s a Labradoodle

Which is a Labrador and poodle.

And a Jack Russel

Will always put you in a hussel.

I have an Afrikaanus

He is way too skinny to fit into the harness.

There’s way too many dogs to explain

But sadly there’s way too many dogs for me to gain.

Arts and Craft

The way that I love arts and craft

Makes me feel rather smart.

I just love to gush,

When paint gets on my brush.

Its so fun to use my pencil

The best part is, I don’t need a stencil.

That folding isn’t that old.

'My Summer Holiday' a poem by Maya Hattingh

The 7th of December was the last day of school,

We started the holiday by going to my granny’s pool.

Playing with my cousin Angelina was lots of fun,

My cousin Mikey and my brother Alexander played cricket in the sun.

My Uncle came from Spain,

I was really happy to see him again.

My aunty came too,

She’s been to places like Thailand and Peru.

We went to Wimpy once or twice,

We went to our granny and it was very nice.

I was sad when my uncle left for Spain

And I had to go to school again.
