Hard Life at School (My first day being back) By Jordan Beckwith

A new year to get started.

Middle school has started.

And then there are teachers of all sorts.

It’s tough to be there now and my class mates seems to be nervous because all their best friends got separated and are in the other class. But everyone seemed exited for a new year although that didn’t bother me very much.

OK so school has started. And we head to class and it seemed pretty cool, I thought we are going to start with our lessons. At some point I started feeling weird but the new register teacher/English teacher was okay. Because she seemed pretty nice… or not… it was hard to tell. Well we had register for about 3 HOURS and it was so boring…!

Then the teacher started handing out work - on the first day! COME ON! On the first day we had work! So now we had something to do in the last 33 minutes. I tried my best and finished just in time as the bell rang then we all went to a big assembly. And it was really boring so that I almost fell asleep in my chair. After that we had our first lesson and the next and the next well… just work I guess, but the first day of school was actually not so bad...!

The Swimming Gala 2019 by Jatil Brijraj

PCS had a swimming Gala for 2019 on the 25 January. It was a very warm day to swim, so it was the perfect day to take a dip in the pool.  Miss Welch was the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the day. Everyone got ready very quickly because they wanted to get wet and cool off.

There was an array of colours from all the brightly coloured T-shirts from the Dragon, Lion and Tiger houses that were red, blue and yellow.  There were quite a lot of swimmers taking part.  Those that were not swimming were sitting on the side and cheering for their house members. The first stroke was Butterfly then Freestyle, Breaststroke and Backstroke. At break time there was a bevy of girls walking to the bench to have a bite of their lunch so that they get more energy to continue swimming.  Most people played Soccer at break.  All the swimmers had a lot of fun in the pool.

The Gala started at 10am and finished at 2pm.  All children swam as fast as they could. Even the teachers and college students had a swimming race. It was very funny because the teachers cheated and the college students cheated too but the college won.  It was quite clear from all the cheering that the teachers race was the most exciting. The results at the end of the day were: Tigers: 420 points, Lions: 430 points and the Dragons swam away with an amazing 500 points. All the Dragons celebrated by jumping in the pool.
Congratulations to all the Dragons for their victory.
The next event is the Chinese New Year that is on the 8 of February.  Wishing everyone a good 2019.
