Dress Up Like Your Favourite Book Character Day - 15th of June

by Naledi Malahlela and Panna Moloabi

On Thursday the 15th of June the whole school had to dress up as our favourite novel characters. Some of the teachers came looking like Sherlock Holmes and one of the three blind mice, we had some witches and our very own Harry Potter. Out of the students we had some Alice in Wonderlands, Peppe Longstockings, some pirates, lone rangers, dark knights and a few little Red Ridinghoods. We - Naledi and Panna - dressed up as Raven from the book Heartbreakers and Lola Rose from the book called Lola Rose.
We had a lot of fun, and enjoyed the fact that we didn't have to wear uniform. Why don't we do it every Friday!?

The Drama Club Production - PCS Goes Strictly

by Lisa Calitz

On the 6th and 7th of June the drama club proudly presented PCS GOES STRICTLY!
I, Lisa Calitz, had to play the 7th dwarf named Cutie. The play was based on the story of Hansel and Gretel deciding to enter a dancing competition as to rid themselves of their wicked stepmother. The prize was a Good Fairy's wish and after a stiff competition from other fairytale characters they end up winning the prize. The performing part was fun and audience was amazing. The whole drama was totally worth all the hours of practicing the dancing moves. Mrs Cloete is a wonderful drama producer and coordinator.

A BIG THANKS to Mrs Cloete and the whole cast for this wonderful Drama Production!

"Curiosity" - by Panna Moloabi

'Curiosity killed the cat' they say...
Well, the cat does have 9 lives, so take chances.

Without curiosity, we would not know about our cultural backgrounds...
Without curiosity, Einstein would not have discovered E - mC2,
Without curiosity, Newton would not have discovered gravity,
Without curiosity, Da Vinci, Picasso, Matisse & Van Gogh would all have the same style of art.
Without curiosity, IBM would not have started a technology evolution which changed the world...

It all starts with curiosity... followed by a spark.

The Dragon Boat Festival - by Maya Hattingh

The Dragon Boat Festival is a very exciting day for the people of China, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, and don't forget - the people of PCS! To begin the Dragon Boat Festival we started off with Chinese Drumming - it was awesome! Next we watched a video and then it was time for another performance by the Bell Dancers. What an amazing performance that was! It was followed by the Stick Dance and the Fan Dance. Then the winners for the best coloured-in Dragon Boat picture form the Junior Primary school were announced. They received a prize in a shape of a rooster lantern, and the Grade 4-11's winners for the Dragon Boat Art competition received tuck-shop vouchers. After that we had traditional rice dumplings, and then we had to go back to class, but I really enjoyed it!
