Real Friends vs. Fake Friends - by: Kaylin van der Merwe and Panna Moloabi

"Friends are like four leaf clovers hard to find lucky to have."

Our real friends are like our chosen family when we find the right ones. Many of us have friends but some of them may be ‘fake’ friends and we may also have even more than one real friend. Here are summaries of what real and fake friends are.

Fake friends: These are the friends who hang with us because of the things we have or how we dress, talk, look or act.

Real friends: these are friends who like us not because of our exteriors but who we are on the inside – our personalities or qualities – and have genuine love for us.

Here are some ways of identifying real and fake friends.

Fake friends are only there for us when we want them to be. Real friends are there for us when we least expect it and they always know what you need and when you need it. The best moments are spent with your real friends but fake friends can create the worst moments ever.

Fake friends judge us if we are naturally different from others and they often tell you to stop acting the way you do. Real friends don’t judge you but they try join you and make you feel good about standing out. Fake friends often shut out your ideas and make you feel so small you feel like you are worthless. Real friends take time and listen to what you must say and try to see your perspective. Fake friends flourish in your failure while real friends go all out to help you succeed in life.

Real friends appreciate you for who you are so don’t forget to do the same for them. Sometimes it can take some time to find a real friend but remember not to stay with fake ones because at the end of the you will end up being the unhappy victim.

SPREAD KINDNESS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY BOUNCE BACK TO YOU SOONER OR LATER!
