My pet Ball Python - by Lisa Calitz

“Snakes are creatures with a grace none other animal can achieve”
~Gerrald Durrell~

Her name is Leia and I think she is the BEST! She was born on 5 Feb 2018. There are over 2000 Ball Python morphs and she is a Spider morph. Spider morphs have a Neurological disorder and some Spider morphs tend to “star-gaze”. When they get exited they lift up their head, but their balance seems to be switched off and they “wobble”. Luckily my Leia does not have it, but even if she did I would still love her!

Many people are afraid of snakes. My friend was scared of them too, but when I showed Leia to him, he changed his mind and thought she was kind of cute. He even wanted his own pet Ball Python!

Leia eats live mice and I feed her once or twice a week. She lives in a tropical themed tank with a water bowl, a heating pad, a hideaway place and a few plastic plants. Snakes are known to be escape artists, so I have a clip-on lid that can only opens from the outside. Keeping her is fun. She doesn't drool or shed hair, or bark at the moon or claw the furniture. Best pet ever!
