Chinese New Year - by Nina Olivier, Amy Collins and Gemma Penning

A few weeks ago it was Chinese New Year
I can go on and on about it,
but would you like to hear?

The Chinese drummers were really loud
But I couldn’t quite see them
Because of the big crowd

Afterwards the Grade 00’s came on,
And they had to dance to the Chinese drums
That made a beautiful song

The Chinese street dancers then came on
But it was so graceful
But the guys in the suits could’ve gone

Then we got Chinese crackers and red bags
But since they only had very little money
It made me kind of sad

But with the money you mustn’t spend it straight away
You must keep it under your pillow
For another great day!

But unfortunately it was all done
Even though we had a day off
I missed all the fun

Happy Year of The Dog!

RIDDLE TIME - by TSWELOPELE MOLOPE

What gets wetter
The more it dries

A TOWEL

What’s black when it’s not being used
Red when it’s being used
And white when it’s done being used

Coal

I am tall when young
And short when old
What am I?

A CANDLE

Searching for a Memory - A Poem By Amy Collins

Searching for a memory

Searching for a memory
To hang upon my wall
This one is too big
But this one is too small.

Maybe I’ll do that one
It seems quite middle sized
No, I remember that day,
The one I quite despise.

That one could be possible,
The day I rode my bike
Then I fell to the ground
That day I did not like.

Hhmmmm, maybe I’ll do that one
My first day back at school
Nah, I’d rather not
That day was kind of cruel

Yes! I’ve got it!
This one will surely do,
A memory that I’ve chosen
Is going to be YOU!!
