*What Newspaper Club Means To Us*

by Kaylyn Martin, Chelsea Paterson, Mahle Ngema and Chloe Andonopoulos

Newspaper Club is the best activity
Cause it's time to show my creativity
In Newspaper Club I am never annoyed
For at the end I know that I've enjoyed
In newspaper club I'm never sad
For it is not ever near to bad
In Newspaper club I never get a fright,
For the class is always full of sunlight.
Newspaper club is really so cool
It makes the whole Chinese School rule
At the newspaper club you don't wait at a till
For you don't ever need to pay no bill,
Newspaper Club is over the moon,
For no dish ran away without the spoon,
In Newspaper Club we have nothing to lose,
And no one will take a risk to snooze
Newspaper Club is higher than the rest
Cause it simply and totally is the best.

Our Netball Match Experience on the 17th of May - by Maya Hattingh and Phoebe Andonopoulos

We were busy in Natural Sciences and then we heard an announcement to pack up, so we did, and went to the bus. It was the same bus that also took the soccer kids. When we got to Tyger Valley there were not many people there. We got to practice a bit, and then the game started with a loud "Ding!". We played the first half finishing it with one score, while they had 5. Then the other team from Tyger Valley came. At the end of the game the total score was 13 to 2. One of the Tyger Valley girls then showed us where the oranges and biscuits were. We asked the coach if we were going to play another game, and she said no, and that we can watch the other kids play. Then the soccer boys were done and we drove back to our school. We really enjoyed the game even though we lost.

*Toastmasters* by Panna Moloabi

What is Toastmasters?

Toast Masters is a 8 week course which focuses specifically on public speaking. I loved Toastmaster because it taught me how to be confident. Over the weeks, we had to come to school every Thursday from 6pm to 8pm. The first day,we were told to think of three topics and make a speech out of one. The next week we had loads of fun presenting out speeches and being taught about speech evaluation. During the 7 weeks, were judged on which role we should do on the final Toastmasters evening. Were were all told what our roles would be in week 6. We worked extremely hard at memorising our parts for those of us who had to introduce someone. On the evening, we had great fun introducing our friends onto the stage to present their wonderful prepared and/or unprepared speeches. Our Madam Toastmaster of the evening, Lufuno, did an excellent job at welcoming us onto the stage! I was assigned the role of the course overview with Zizi and it was so much fun. I also presented an unprepared speech I front of our parents and teachers. Toast Masters was a blast and I wish I could do it again!

Public Speaking

By Munenyiwa Munaka

Public speaking means a lot to me, because you actually practice your bravery while saying a speech. Our first experience in public speaking was a speech about your family. It was quite fun, as we also had to do impromptu speeches. My first impromptu speech was about a sharp dog collar or a belt. Public speaking is more than just saying a speech in front of the people, It is your way to express yourself. I hope that everyone gets the chance to experience public speaking. I am sure our school has done well. Public speaking is awesome!

Bullies! by Maya Hatting and Phoebe Andonopoulos

Bullies are the worst! The best thing is to try and avoid them... Sometimes bullies don't actually like who they are. Please don't be a bully, be a friend. If you want people to treat you nicely, then you have to treat them the same. Sometimes bullies think that they ate better than you. Violence is not the answer. If you are being bullied, don't keep it in, and talk about it.
