The Gr 7's Valentines' Social

A NIGHT IN PARIS

The Eiffel Tower, lights, romance, and of course - berets!

These are just a few aspects of Paris that the grade 7’s of 2016 brought in to the Valentines social.  The night started off at 6 o’clock with a line of grade 5’s and 6’s waiting to get in, but before all this could happen - the grade 7’s were working tirelessly on getting the hall looking like Valentine ’s Day in Paris - getting the food ready and making sure the speakers for the music worked. It was a lot of work and effort but somehow the grade 7’s managed to get everything done.

Thomas Jefferson once said “I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have” which is exactly what happened - hard work really does pay off! Later that night we had a few competitions such as the best dress, but I would first like to point out that everyone at the dance looked stunning! We had winners in every grade and each winner got a little sweet and a round of applause on stage. We also had a best dancer competition to the song ‘Hit the Quan’ by iLoveMemphis. Again the same principles apply - we had winners from every grade and each person got a sweet and a round of applause on stage. Then at exactly 8 o’clock we drew the raffle numbers for the two valentines baskets made by Moira Dahlan, and the winners were… Jordan Pullon in grade 7 and our History and LO teacher Ms Paulo! We ended the night with everyone (even some teachers) dancing to the chicken dance. We rapped it up at 9 o’clock and the grade 7’s left at about 9:15 after cleaning it all up.

On behave of all the grade 7’s I would like to thank everyone who came to support the grade 7’s by coming to the social. Without the support of the senior prep and its teachers we wouldn’t have been able to raise about R6500 so once again, Thank you!
