Chinese Culture Festival and Valentines Day by Melinda Reyneke photography by Jordanne McDonald

For the past few weeks the Senior Preparatory art classes were a hive of activity. You could just feel the creative juices flowing. Everyone was busy creating their own masterpiece for the Chinese Cultural Festival. The rules were that any medium could be used but the Chinese character for love had to be on the final product.

On Friday, 9 October, the celebration was held at school. We were honored by the presence of the Chinese ambassadors who enjoyed the festival with us. Entertainment included a short play by the College Chinese Culture Club and dancing by the Senior Preparatory Chinese Culture Club. Bianca van Zyl gave a presentation on what people from around the world think about love. In total, I think the whole festival was a huge success.
